High seasonal efficiency, lower environmental impact
Temperzone's Econex OPA is an innovative range of variable capacity R32 inverter rooftop packaged systems. These systems are designed to deliver exceptional seasonal energy efficiency through the implementation of leading system software and componentry.
Econex OPA have been designed to assist organisations in their carbon reduction efforts. The use of R32 refrigerant enables a significant reduction in refrigerant related GWP (Global Warming Potential) compared to R410A systems.

Award Winning Product Innovation
The Econex R32 Inverter Air Cooled Package Units were recently awarded the 2022 Product Excellence Award at the ARBS Industry Awards in Melbourne. This Award category focuses on new technologies that demonstrate innovation and fitness of Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Building Services sector.
The ARBS Industry Awards is a national collaborative effort by all major HVAC&R & building services associations to showcase excellence in the Australian Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and building services industry.

Lower global warming potential
With a smaller refrigerant charge and a GWP of 677, OPA Econex R32 refrigerant units result in a 71-79% reduction in overall GWP per kW of cooling or heating when compared to R410A systems (GWP 2088).

Inverter Compressors
Econex inverter compressors* only use the amount of energy to suit the operating condition maximising your SEER performance.
- Soft starting, using much less power at start-up.
- Matching capacity to load avoids temperature fluctuation and reduces energy input power.
- Full inverter compressor range from 16-100% compressor speed.
- Reduced amount of start/stop for long-life operation.
Close Comfort Control
Fixed speed air conditioners are single speed on/off systems. Once the desired temperature is reached, they turn off, turning back on only when the temperature drops below or rises above a set level. This cycling between full or no capacity causes unnecessary waste of electricity and doesn’t maintain a constant room temperature.
The use of variable capacity inverter compressors allow a precise load variation response for superior temperature control. The use of electronic expansion valves and variable speed indoor and outdoor fans further allows a more effective, and efficient, response to varying load conditions.

EC Plug & EC Condenser Fans
EC Plug fans control airflow accurately and efficiently. Fan speed can also be controlled via external signals via input or Modbus.
- Programmable for exact airflow
- High static pressure
- Enables variable airflow operation
- High efficiency
- Lower maintenance and commissioning costs
EC Condenser Fans increase overall efficiency and optimise refrigeration efficiency.
- High static pressure (at least 120Pa)
- Quiet operation mode
Seasonal Energy Efficiency (SEER)
Compared to the same capacity fixed speed units, Econex OPA considerably increases efficiency (EER) as the ambient reduces, while fixed speed systems efficiency remains relatively unchanged.
Seasonal energy performance of Econex is superior because;
- Units operate the majority of the time at part load
- Inverter compressors are more efficient at part load
- Variable speed fans are more efficient at part load

Total Cooling Seasonal Performance Factor
The Econex range, when compared to the same capacity fixed speed units, has considerably higher seasonal energy efficiency factors.
High-Performance Design
For versatile specification, all R32 inverter packaged systems offer a very wide heating and cooling capacity range enabling reliable comfort at times of peak load and increased energy savings under low load conditions.

Dual Electronic Expansion Valves (EEV)
Econex OPA features dual EEV's, benefits include;
- EEVs enable improved efficiency and reduced operating costs at part-load conditions.
- They also facilitate maximised energy savings during the shoulder seasons – periods in which air conditioning systems often run at part-load.
- Fast and precise control of superheat.
- Dual EEVs enables the individual control of each EEV and activate the unique temperzone Dry mode.
Advanced & Super Dry Mode
Advanced Dry Mode and Super Dry Mode can only be achieved by Temperzone Econex and Eco units as they utilise optimised Dual Electronic Refrigeration Valve control (IP protected) to achieve exceptional dehumidification performance across the units full operation range. EEV's provide optimum superheat control at varying load for outstanding comfort with indoor air temperature and humidity control and increased efficiencies by lowering head pressure and optimum feeding of heat exchanger coils.

Extreme Weather Operation
Designed for the harshest conditions, these R32 packaged units are designed to operate in ambient temperatures from -15°C to +52°C* to ensure you’re always comfortable, whatever the weather.
*OPA 970 -10°C to +50°C
Minimised Footprint
As the next-generation product, the footprint of Econex has reduced considerably. The Econex OPA 350, 450, and 560 feature a 20-22% reduction in size compared to the previous generation product.
The footprint reduction will reduce installation costs and accommodate to confined spaces.

Convenient Client Wiring Terminals
Improved electrical access with connections more easily accessed by installers through customer terminals. Units are fully wired; the main power supply and communication connections can be wired directly within the terminal.
Flexible Handing Options
Econex packaged units offer flexible handing configurations as standard to suit site requirements.

BMS Connectivity
No matter how simple or complex the climate control requirements, Temperzone can offer a unit that can be integrated into the building air conditioning infrastructure. Simplified BMS integration with Modbus or BACnet Communication Protocol.
Easy Filter Access
The filters can be easily accessed through the hinged service door access to the supply air chamber. This enables quick and easy service maintenance.
Economy Damper and Spill Air options
Economy dampers are optional for the Econex OPA range (external or factory fitted). The Economy Cycle presents significant energy savings. When the outside ambient air is below set point required, the compressor is cycled off, outside air dampers open, and the supply air fan continues to run, bringing cool air in from outside.
Spill Air* is used for applications where outside air is introduced into a closed environment that has minimal outside air migration. The spill air control modulates relief pressure in the A/C’s return air chamber to prevent over pressurisation of the conditioned space. (*Available on OPA 1410 - OPA 2110 Econex products)
