Lower global warming potential
By utilising R32 refrigerant in managed, low refrigerant volumes (A2L), Econex HWP delivers the environmental step change while remaining installable in the same applications and footprints as legacy water cooled units.
With a smaller refrigerant charge and a GWP of 675*, HWP Econex R32 refrigerant units result in a 71-80% reduction in overall GWP per kW of cooling or heating when compared to previous R410A systems (GWP 2088*).
Inverter Compressor Efficiency
Intelligent control is built in with inverter driven compressors that match capacity precisely to demand and command only the water flow required to condition the space - cutting pump energy, improving part load efficiency, and enabling right sized hydronic infrastructure. A refrigerant cooled inverter drive keeps electronics within optimal temperature bands for robust reliability across varying temperature conditions.
Across the new Econex HWP range, EER figures have increased by up to 40% and COP figures have increased by up to 24% when comparing the ECO HWP range.
Accessories
Econex HWP range have accessories that are included and some that availbale as an option from Temperzone:
- Flexible Hoses Option: Optional for Econex HWP
- Drain Pump Option: Optional Condensate lift-pump (1m head) has been designed to remove condensate from the unit in tight installations where a well sloped drain line (minimum 1 in 50 gradient) is not feasible. These are fitted in the compressor compartment with a simple, clip-in design, for easy installation and service access.
- Spring Kit Supplied: Units are provided with hanging brackets fitted and spring mounting kits that can be used for additional vibration isolation and assist with meeting seismic requirements.
- Water Modulating Valve Kit Option: To ensure the stable operation of a variable capacity system and to get the most out of part-load efficiency, a water modulating valve is required to be fitted in the water-loop for each unit. The control for this valve is provided by the HWP unit, and a modulating valve kit is available as an accessory.
PTC Electric Heat Option
All HWP electric heat units feature Positive Temperature Co-efficient (PTC) elements, which adapts its output relative to air velocity. Due to this surface temperature control these safe self-limiting elements will not overheat.
The heating performance of these elements will vary based on both the entering air temperature and the airflow passing through the unit. This needs to be considered both for duty and for current draw on-site.
Handing Options

Econex HWP is available in both Standard and Opposite Handing.

Filter Kits
Filter kits are also available for these units, sliding straight over the return air spigot, these offer a slide-in space for filters of 12mm OR 50mm thickness. The kit comes supplied with G2 filters, but can easily be adjusted on-site to accommodate G4 (or MERV-8) 50mm pleated filters.
V-Slope Drain Tray & Float Switch
Each unit includes a full-length V-sloped drain tray with drainage ports on both ends for efficient condensate removal. One, or both ends can be capped to suit different installation orientations, which means no more flipping the drain-tray around on-site.
A float switch is fitted as standard on all models and if water rises above the safe operating limit, the switch automatically stops the compressor to help prevent damage.
ThermoShell Heat Exchanger
ThermoShell® technology is Temperzone’s high performance, compact heat-exchanger for refrigerant and water systems. ThermoShell® enables considerably lower water flow rates and water pressure drops to be accommodated by the system, with minimal effect on duty and efficiency. This leads to a reduction in hydronic equipment size, reducing capital and operating costs.
All-in-one EC Fan Motor Design
This fan has a compact pancake-style motor mounted directly onto the impeller, with the electronic driver integrated into the assembly, all connected through a simple plug-and-play cable. Maintenance and servicing are made faster and easier, with complete fan replacement simply requiring unplugging the existing assembly and plugging in the new one; significantly reducing installation time, maintenance effort, and downtime.

With its modern design, responsive interface and comprehensive feature set, the innoTouch controller sets a new standard for user-friendly HVAC control.
The innoTouch controller is compatible with Temperzone UC8-based systems making it suitable for new installations as well as retrofit applications across both residential and commercial spaces.
