Econex HWP - R32 Inverter Water Cooled Packaged Range

The Econex HWP (Hideaway Water Cooled Packaged) range brings lower GWP refrigerants and advanced inverter technology to the proven water loop packaged format - unlocking a practical pathway to decarbonisation without disrupting existing building topologies.

Utilising R32 refrigerant in managed, low refrigerant volumes, Econex HWP units deliver a step-change in embodied carbon, reducing the CO2e of refrigerant by up to 80% while remaining installable in the same applications as legacy water-sourced packaged units.

Intelligent control is built in with inverter driven compressors that match capacity precisely to demand and command only the water flow required to condition the space - cutting pump energy, improving part load efficiency, and enabling right sized hydronic infrastructure. A refrigerant cooled inverter drive keeps electronics within optimal temperature bands for robust reliability across varying temperature conditions.

Each packaged unit serves one or two dedicated zones and can be powered directly from the tenancy switchboard, simplifying metering, cost allocation, and fit out planning. The reverse cycle + electric heat variant can intelligently prioritise high efficiency heat pump operation and engage electric back up only when loop temperatures fall too low - delivering significant heating energy savings at part load and de risking reliance on central boilers.

The result is a future ready, easily deployable solution that elevates intelligent building performance while accelerating refrigerant transition and improving lifecycle cost.

We have achieved outstanding unit efficiencies across the new Econex HWP range, with EER figures increased by up to 40% and COP figures up to 24% when comparing to our own HWP ECO range.

The electric heating elements fitted to these units are now Positive Temperature Co-efficient (PTC) design. These are self-limiting for safe, and reliable electric heating. It is important to note that the heating performance of these elements will vary based on both the entering air temperature and the airflow passing through the unit. This needs to be considered both for duty and for current draw on-site.

To ensure the stable operation of a variable capacity system and to get the most out of part-load efficiency, a water modulating valve is required to be fitted in the water-loop for each unit. The control for this valve is provided by the HWP unit, and a modulating valve kit is available as an accessory.

The compressor compartment of the Econex HWP units has been fully insulated with acoustic dampening for lower compressor noise.

Each unit includes a full-length V-sloped drain tray with drainage ports on both ends for efficient condensate removal. One, or both ends can be capped to suit different installation orientations, which means no more flipping the drain-tray around on-site.

Condensate Drain Pumps are available as an accessory and are fitted in the compressor compartment with a simple, clip-in design, for easy installation and service access.

A float switch is fitted as standard on all models and if water rises above the safe operating limit, the switch automatically stops the compressor to help prevent damage.

All units are provided with hanging brackets fitted and spring mounting kits that can be used for additional vibration isolation and assist with meeting seismic requirements.

Flexible hoses are no longer included, but are available as an optional accessory.

Filter kits are also available for these units, sliding straight over the return air spigot, these offer a slide-in space for filters of 12mm OR 50mm thickness. The kit comes supplied with G2 filters, but can easily be adjusted on-site to accommodate G4 (or MERV-8) 50mm pleated filters.

The Econex HWP units are compatible with both low-level and high-level BMS connections as well as a range of thermostats.

One of these is our New innoTouch Controller, which enables intuitive control through a user-friendly full colour touch screen interface. This controller allows for easy control of the product, including 24/7 scheduling, a 365-day calendar for special events, configurable override timers, lockable user-profiles, enhanced servicing features, and more.
