Alan Channels - ARBS Hall of Fame

Congratulations Alan Channells

Alan Channells, former Managing Director of Temperzone Australia Pty Ltd, was recently inducted into the ARBS Hall of Fame. Everyone who has been inducted into the ARBS Hall of Fame have made substantial and significant contributions to the advancement of the HVAC&R  industry. Induction represents the industry’s recognition of Alan’s exceptional service, involvement and dedication.

Alan was nominated by AREMA (Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Equipment Manufacturers Association of Australia) after spending nearly 50 years in the refrigeration and air conditioning industry. He began his career as a Qantas Ground Engineer in 1967 before becoming a product/design  engineer at Repco-Bohn. He then worked his way up to applications/engineering manager, and also spent time instructing new members of the trade as a part-time lecturer for the Refrigeration Mechanics Trades Course.

In 1981, Alan became Temperzone Australia’s Managing Director a role he served in until he retired in 2020. He oversaw the expansion and development of Temperzone throughout Australia including the Sydney-based manufacturing facility.  Amongst many other achievements he received the H.E. Terry Memorial Prize, has been an AIRAH member since 1976 and was a member of the Air-Conditioning and Commercial Refrigeration Advisory Committee to the Federal Government. Alan was also integral in the development of AREMA, was an active member from 1985 to 2020 and served as both President and Treasurer.
