Temperzone’s R32 Commercial Products Making Inroads in New Zealand

New World, a supermarket chain under Foodstuffs Co-operatives in New Zealand, recently opened a new store in Hobsonville, a rural suburb of Auckland. New World is committed to sustainability and doing its part to reduce its operational carbon emissions. The stores are 100% New Zealand owned and operated and have a very strong focus on local products. So, it is fitting that the OPA 2100 unit that was installed, not only uses R32 refrigerant, but was also the first of its model to be made in the Auckland factory. The system was installed by McAlpine Hussmann.

Temperzone’s new R32 products are designed to maximise the efficiency benefits of R32 refrigerant, inverter compressors and EC fan technology. R32 has approximately one third the Global Warming Potential (GWP) per kW cooling as R410A. This unit was the third R32 OPA2100 unit made for the NZ market, with more and more companies expressing a preference for R32 refrigerant as part of their Global Warming reduction targets. The R32 range also offers the additional cost benefit of simply requiring less total refrigerant than equivalent R410A units.

Temperzone’s OPA2100 recently won the prestigious 2020 AIRAH “Product of the Year” Award. The award recognises excellence in product manufacture, with products assessed on their innovation, energy efficiency, sustainability, originality, and industry need.

In addition to the AIRAH product of the year, the OPA 2100 was recognised on the international stage last year. At the CIBSE (CIBSE - Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers) awards in the United Kingdom, the OPA 2100 received a Highly Commended Award in the Thermal Comfort Innovation category. It was also a finalist in the ARBS (Air conditioning, Refrigeration Building Services) Product of the Year awards in Australia.

Other sustainable features include the LED lighting and the CO2 refrigeration system in-store.
